the problem is that so many people dont understand or know about subconscious bias and socialisation and shit like that or intergenerational transfer and they think where women have legally equal rights now there is no misogyny because they dont get sociocultural processes and that the culture that allowed for women to be oppressed is persistent still today aghhh
“1974” which was 50 years ago
Pretty sure this was misconstrued. Married women couldn’t open a credit card without their husband’s permission, because at the time iirc all financial accounts within a marriage were shared. Meaning the dude couldn’t get a credit card unless the wife agreed as well.
Either way, it’s still 50 years. 50 years is not “it’s here” or even in the rear view mirror. You know what they were doing 50 years ago? Looking things up in books because they didn’t have the internet
Yea I know, I was just backing you up that first of all it was 50 years ago and obviously we changed it. But also the original premise was wrong too.
50 years is not long, just bc there are laws doesn’t mean misogyny and misogynistic beliefs disappeared
That’s nice. But this post was about laws, not attitudes.
Laws shape attitudes, removing a law doesn’t change the attitudes of men that believe that women need to have permissions. It doesn’t remove the deep misogyny over night.
Well good thing it was 50 years ago
Yes it does misogynistic laws create misogynistic social exceptions and attitudes. The fact that you think laws have no impact on attitudes is wild.
Well good thing it was 50 years ago
Well it is sad how even after 50 years, there are still men that believe women have to ask permission from them.
Well the good thing about this country is you can tell those men to go to hell. Other countries you get the business end of a scimitar for talking back to them
That says a lot about male nature and what happens when men get most of power.
If you say so
“What happens when men get most of power.” Is that supposed to be some kind of unique or interesting concept? This is the kind of person who believes men have most of power always and forever everywhere no matter what happens.
Let’s just ignore that they were implying America was dominated by men, yet is different from those places with the scimitars
Considering how everytime it is International Men’s Day or Father’s Day, everyone takes that time specifically to shit on those 2 groups of people, I’m not amazed the people doing the shitting aren’t liked by them.
It’s ironic how feminists take IMD and IWD to complain about MRAs supposedly trying to derail IWD.
And their evidence for the derail is…more people search for IMD on IWD than IMD.
As if people couldn’t wonder if IMD is a thing on their own.
Politics is marketing. You want to sell me something. Calling me the scum of the earth is not an effective sales strategy.
So anyway, assaulting people over mere words is just that. Assault. You’re not a hero. You’re forcing your thought policing views on others using the threat of violence.
Which you think actually changes minds? Like a bigot assaulting you would make you agree with them?
Pot calling the kettle fascist.
Edit: But on the topic of Nazi Germany, Nazis only gained power because they portrayed the Jews as oppressors who were to blame for all of their problems and undeserving were of sympathy. Another thing the “punch a nazi” crowd is known for doing to groups for how they were born.
Not just assault, terrorism.
Also, both the Nazis and the Italian fascists dressed up in colored shirts and physically attacked political enemies. And German’s antifa tried to do the same, and it didn’t work.
So, OP, are you endorsing killing anyone who’s a Nazi?
Because if you’re likening yourself to soldiers who fought a war, that’s what it’s gonna take.
The nazis and the german antifa were just fighting over which brand of fascism they wanted, oddly enough antifa won and a a prize they got the eastern bloc full of soviet puppet states and secret police that drag you off to god knows where in the middle of the night because your kid turned you in to the stasi in exchange for a new pair of shoes.
But it totally wasn’t fascism because fascism is what other people do not them.
Their secret police and state sanctioned executions were totally different since they were Democratic in East Germany, even says so in their official name of the Democratic German Republic.
Which is also how you know it wasn’t real communism™.
Am I Reading this right?
Don’t beat the nazi?
Don’t protect yourself and others from people preaching harmful and dangerous rhetoric?
i don’t know folks I think you’re falling into the “sitting on the bench and ignoring Jew neighbor getting beat up on the street so I also don’t get beat up” category
Yes, you are reading “don’t attack people you label as Nazis, especially because that word now applies to anyone someone doesn’t like” correctly. I’m not sure how you got “ignore physical violence committed against others” from “don’t commit physical violence over speech” though.
The only people labeling people as nazis based on some random spin of the wheel or however you assume it happens are complete idiots, 99% of people can accurately describe to you what a nazi is.
no one is actually comparing “i dont like you” to “you are scum of the earth”. NO ONE
I’ve been called a Nazi for saying things such as “discrimination is wrong”. @siryouarebeingmocked has been called a Nazi for similar reasons. In the modern world where every side calls every other side a Nazi, if you don’t see the potential for how bad “we should attack everyone we label as a Nazi” is then you’re being wilfully blind.
One of the weirdest bits of psuedo-historical mythmaking imbedded in all this punch-a-nazi stuff is the idea that World War II was an ideological crusade with the purpose of combating the ideas of fascism rather than a response to the real-world attempts by the Axis powers to conquer and annex geographic territory.
Thinking of making a milkshake with iced coffee and chocolate fudge chunk ice cream
Actually turned my brain on and had an even better thought
Normal milkshake but add instant coffee granules so it isn’t watery
Potion of stay up until Thursday.
Yummy
You half-joke but that’s exactly what my parents did with all my siblings; have my mom down a giant coke slurpee from 7-11 on the way to the ultrasound so that we’d be bouncing all over the place and they’d be able to get a clear look at us.
